Getting Fibre to my house

Hi All, i live in an area where the fibre stops a couple of streets away.

How can i convince them (BT i guess) to lay it in my street?

From 2013, BT will be doing a service called "FTTP on demand", where if your area is already FTTC enabled, they will install a fibre line all the way to your house, on request. Sadly though, it will cost £1,500 at least for installation!

Bloody hell! I should think myself lucky I got FTTP from the off, even though there was a delay and I was only expecting FTTC

This is a quote from another site "a price in the range of £500 to £1500 seems likely"

But do you think it would be worth it though if say for example you had a lot of money to spend, and you had a new house built out in the countryside near an FTTC enabled area and you had quite a lot of money to spend on the development of the house?

I guess that would depend on how fast of an internet connection you wanted. Its only worth it if you are a heavy user imo.

Do you think that it would be worth it to get a 330Mbps broadband connection?

If you will use the speed then I do think its worth it. Its just the beginning mind you, as they are pushing for 1gbps next year. Getting a fibre link to your home will pretty much future proof you.

A fibre connection to your house will definitely future proof you as the only bandwidth limter on fibre is the electronics at either end of it.
