Pioneer 508XD: ISF over HCFR Calibration

Hi,

I'm thinking about getting my set-up ISF'd but I have already had a go with HCFR 2.1 and a DTP94 and according the information given in the HCFR graphs it's looking pretty good indeed.

I've done all my sources independently (apart from Freeview - I used the same settings for Freeview as to what I arrived at for my Panny EX78 DVD/HDD recorder. Good idea or not?)

I was wondering if I would get much of an improvement over the HCFR cal if I now had it ISF'd. For example, would I get ruler-flat 2.22 gamma as - I believe - ISF can target individual gamma points? Any primary/secondary plotting - would that be more accurate too?

I have a wide range of colorimeters available to me as I work in Tech Support for a leading Colour Management company - do you think I'd get any better results using, say, an Eye-One Pro?

Many thanks in advance,

Matthew

Re: Pioneer 508XD: ISF over HCFR Calibration

I guess what you would get out of an ISF calibration would depend on how your calibration went.

Add some pictures/data and see what the Professionals make of them.

I have just finished my 428XD, and the results look great (no primary colour calibration though). But I am sure a Pro would be abe to complete the job better. It's just the cost for the remaining improvements against the cost of my TV, doesn't represent value (I am skint!).

How did you approach using the "modes" ie Movie/USER etc?
