Hi,

I am looking to get my PANASONIC TH-42PZ85B screen calibrated by a proffesional.
Does the ISF calibration go through the service menu, or is it just a simple task of altering the slider in the picture menu.

Please could someone point me in the right direction of a good ISf calibrater in the yorkshire area.

One last query, I have at the moment not got a AV AMP, the kit i Have is the tv, PS3 and a HD-35 HDDVD player.
Will the TV need calibrating after I introduce an amp, or does this not mak a difference.

Calibration is done via the service menu. You can't calibrate colour, just greyscale tracking on these sets.

If your amp will affect the video signal, eg it has an upscaler you send the signal through to improve the picture, it needs to be in place before calibration is done. Calibration takes the whole signal chain into account.

Can't help with the Yorkshire ISFer, though.

Hi, Do you think calibration would help with the picture quality, im thinking of getting a projector and wonder if its better to calibrate that instead of the plasma.

Of course calibration will help with picture quality...

A projector will have more controls on it than the panny so will be able to be set more accurately. The results will probably be more impactful too I'd think because of the extra size. As for prices for calibrating a range of equipment, you're going to have to find an ISFer based in Yorkshire or who will travel (as many of them will).

A projector will not nescesarrily have more controls for calibration than a plasma panel. In the case of the panansonic there will only be grayscale controls in the service menu. But this is also true for a lot of projectors.

Any display will benefit from a calibration, one more than the other.

Remember that calibrating the front panel controls is vital for a good calibration result. Not just the "clever" service menu adjustments.

Getting the right dynamic range setting is the most important in any calibration(brightness/contrast). IMHO.

Consider getting both calibrated, I give people a good deal on the second display at the same adress. I'm sure many other calibrators do.

Hi, Gordon,

Just a quick note to say thanks, for the calibration.

The picture is now excellent, blacks are black and the colours now stand out, whick gives a greater sense of scale to the proceedings.
Watched 'The Spirit' last night, and was lost for words. (Brilliant was one).

Anybody contemplating having a calibration done, would definitely recomend having it done, Gordon was very helpful, and explained everything step by step.
