Colour Managment On or Off.

Perhaps one of you can help out.
In a review i hve just seen on the Panny G10 it recomends that the colour managment be left on.
I have had my tv pro.calibrated and wonder what effect this has?
Cheers.

Re: Colour Managment On or Off.

This option makes the colour gamut less accurate -- further away from the Rec.709 standard used for high-definition formats -- and should therefore be left off. Which review says to leave it on? (A lot of reviewers out there don't know what they're talking about!)

All the best,
Iain

Re: Colour Managment On or Off.

Hello again Iain how you doing.

I thought it was a bit strange but here it is..

TELEVISIONS COM: Panasonic TX-P 42 GW 10 TV Review | Plasma TV | Flat-panel | Features

It seems to be the EU model they are testing.

Re: Colour Managment On or Off.

Hey there Barry,

Yes it's the European model they seem to be reviewing, which is different from the UK one. They don't offer any justification for their claim about the colour management option -- I don't know whether it's correct for the Euro model.

Oh and you definitely want x.v.colour Off (they say Auto) since none of your sources use it . It is one of these features beloved of marketing departments that is of benefit to almost nobody (only users of certain camcorders IIRC). Blu-ray doesn't use it, nor does DVD, nor do Sky, Freeview etc.

Happy viewing,
Iain
