A friend has just given me his 60gb video iPod due to upgrading to a 64gb iPod Touch.

If I pay to get it fixed, I can have it .

It doesn't turn on, and even after being left on charge for a full day, still nothing. Apparently when it did work, a slight buzzing noise came from the unit, but stopped after a few seconds then it worked perfectly.

Can anyone possibly advise on what they think is wrong with the iPod ? whether it's worth repairing and recommendations on which company to send it to for repair ?

If anyone has encountered a similar problem and had theirs repaired , how much roughly did it cost for the repair ?

If it doesn't work when connected to the charger, then the logic board is probably faulty. You're probably looking at around £100 to repair it. Compared to £189 for a new 160GB classic, which will have a brand-new battery rather than one that is probably on its last legs anyway, and a hard drive that hasn't been thrown around for a few years, I'd suggest it isn't a worthwhile thing to get repaired.
