Ipod FM Transmitter

What's the best FM tranny for my 20gb 4g Ipod?
It's to go into my car, the one i have just now has a rubbish signal, very crackly at all volumes and all 4 available frequencies.
Thanks

I used the iTrip on mine, and it was really bad.

I ended up getting my cd-autochanger input converted to an Aux input, and ran a wire direct to the iPod in the arm rest.

Excellent sound, and no hassle.
Cost about £55.

MUCH better than an FM Modulator IMHO

Ye, that's what i'd like ideally, but it's a Focus i drive and i'm not sure if that could be done since the radio/cd player is a built-in one.
Any suggestions?

the actual unit is still a standard size aperture for a stereo, however you need a facia plate that are readily available from halfords and the like.

ive also got a focus but have been told that ill screw up the warranty on the elctrics if i swap out the head unit but im gonna investigate me thinks

I'm going to be at odds with the majority here.

I bought a Griffin iTrip (Dock Connector version) in the US recently. And I was disappointed with the results. I contacted Griffin by email, had a few to's & fro's, including one where I sent a mp3 recording of the output from a portable radio to illustrate why I thought it wasn't good enough.

And that resulted in them confirming that it wasn't right and so they mailed me a new one. And the new one gives results close to those from a cassette adaptor but with much greater convenience IMO.

The iTrip Dock also allows you to charge whilst in use, using a mini-USB port but it isn't necessary.

I went for the Griffin 'RoadTrip'. It took a while to find a supplier that actually had them in stock, but I now use it in the car and find the results pretty good.

I have the charcoal one, which goes well with my black 30GB iPOD Video.

Essentially it is a docking cradle which plugs directly into the ciggy lighter (comes with adoptor and extension arm). The FM transmitter is powered from the 12v supply and the range of frequencies gives plenty of choice. I currently use 107.9 and get virtually no interferance.

Just because your car does not have a CD Auto changer in it, does not mean that the car sterio Head Unit cant take one. In fact, with a Focus, it is very likely that it has the socket on the back.

Find out what the model number is for your head unit, and look here : http://www.incarexpress.co.uk/view_p...partno=VFOX001
