Iphone o2 upgrade

has anyone recently upgraded to a iphone 4s on o2. bit disapointed as i have just rung up expecting then to be able to do me a deal and all they would offer me is then standard price which is £37 a month. i thought if you where upgrading that they would normally do a deal better than the standard price? Tesco do the same deal for £32 a month which i told the woman and she said she wouldnt budge at all.

O2 don't do individual deals. They only offer you what's listed on their website

Not strictly true. I've been with them for quite a while now and spoke them in November and said i was looking at leaving to go to Tesco as the deal was better for me. On the spot they offered me a deal on a 32Gb 4S that was very similar to the Tesco deal i'd mentioned.

On the spot they offered me 500mins, Unlimited Texts, 500mb data for £32\month and a 32gb phone for £180. Just had the weekend to think it over but will probably ring up and order later today.

The first but was due to them cancelling my contract without me asking when i'd enquired about how much notice i had to give etc with me being on a rolling 30 day simplicity deal. Somehow they took it as cancel it when i asked!!

When I cancelled with them last year they did offer me a deal which was cheaper than their website prices, but it was only as cheap as the tariff I was planning to pay on Three and with O2s awful coverage it wasn't enough to make me change my mind.

I've requested for my PAC Code from O2 several times hoping to get a better deal, but on each occasion, I was refer to their website for current deals.

May be I'm not using the right tricks

I chose the "i want to leave option" and when asked why i was leaving just said i felt the Tesco deal was better for me at which point they said to hang on and would see what they could do for me. I did it on the back of a few folk on here saying they'd been offered deals to stay.

Strangely its the other way around for me.....checked three and their awful coverage where i am prompted me to try and get a deal out of O2 which they then offered me. Three's all you can eat data etc is all well and good but i'd need some sort of signal otherwise its pointless....out of 6 rooms in the house i could get a signal, and then only one bar, in 2 rooms and even outside the house and at work it wasnt a lot better.

i upgraded recently and got a deal that wasnt advertised and i was just speaking to a guy on the instant chat on the website, 1100 mins, unltd txts, 500mb data and 20 mms..... £180 one off payment and £37 a month (24 month contract)... i will more than likely upgrae to the IP 5 when it comes to phone only sale from apple and sell the 4s, so its not all bad being on the 24 month contract as if i get any problems with the phone anyway you deal with apple

hulltiger 01-03-2012 5:25 PM

might give the instant chat a go, the woman i spoke to didnt even know what a iphone was lol

Sparky2520 01-03-2012 5:29 PM

i have chatted to people on the instant chat that are next to useless as well as chatting to people that are very helpfull so im guessing it is a bit of hit or miss but save all transcrypts as if they say something they will do and then you find out they havent done it or are over charging you, you can use the transcrypt as evidence.... or at least i am as they are charging me an extra 20p a month at the moment .... not alot i know but if they do that to 1000 customers.... there quids in eh

hulltiger 01-03-2012 7:26 PM

is £32 for 500 mins, unlimited texts, 500mb data with a £75.21 handset price for a iphone 4s 16gb a good deal?

gdbagley 02-03-2012 4:46 PM

I haven't read the whole thread but thought I'd share:

I upgraded with o2 2 weeks ago and got 64GB 4s for £300 on 12 month contract (it's their £31 12 month tariff) with 500mb bolt on all for £30

hulltiger 05-03-2012 1:14 PM

ended up getting a iphone 4s 16gb from dialaphone with 300mins, unlimted texts, 500mb for £32 a month (24 months) the also threw in a travel pack aswell

DJ Dave 05-03-2012 2:40 PM

Just dealt with O2.

Stg 33 a month

600 Mins

500 MB Data

24 month contract

Unlimited Text

Free 16GB Black 4S

Not earth shattering, but reasonable and no doubt a lot less than peeps paid when it first came out.

Paddy C 05-03-2012 5:22 PM

Apparently O2 no longer offer the 16GB iPhone 4 to customers and if they want the 4 they get an 8GB version and if they want more than that they have to get the 4S. My friend upgraded his contract and phone and was only offered the 4 on his tariff as a free upgrade, if he wanted a 16GB phone he had to pay extra and it would have been a 4S. His contract was £32 a month for 18 months.
