Android to iPhone

Hi, I'm about to renew my contract and am trying to decide which new phone to get. I currently have an android htc desire hd, before that I had the htc desire and before that I had the iPhone 3G. It's been so long since I've had an iPhone, I'm not sure whether to go back. I love the look of iPhone 4s and love it's features, but the only thing I think I am going to miss is my large 4.3" screen. Do you think it's easy to readjust back to a 3.5" screen?
I know the keyboard will be better than that on my desire hd, but will the battery give me the same sort of span?
I will miss my free google maps sat nav, but I can get tomtom.
My initial change from iOS to android was because of its customisable home screens, but I don't really customise them so that's not really an issue.
I just can't decide whether I'll miss my large screen and be hankering for a larger screen.
Help!

Never used HTC so cant really comment but the obvious answer is to go to a shop and have a play with the 4S and see what you think. With the retina display whilst its smaller you may find it better and not notice the difference.

That said i'm of the opinion that the screen size race is a bit like the camera megapixel race where manafacturers just use big numbers to entice users. Mate of mine has a HTC with the massive screen and it just looks ungainly and going away from being a phone that is simple to carry in a trouser pocket.

I have had a play with one in the apple store and really like it, perhaps I'm blowing it out of per portion a bit and it's not really that big an issue.
I must admit, if my phones screen was any larger it would be impossible to use. I just like having a large screen to look at and browse the net on. Will think on it a little more.
How useful is Siri, I understand in a busy environment it wouldnt hear you correctly but in a quiet environment is it fairly accurate?

I personally would like a larger screen just for the same reasons as you. The latest Android handsets that I've handled are excellent and just as slick as IOS and not as bulky as some iPhone users would make out. (We'll see if they miraculously change their tune if the iPhone 5 is bigger).

As for how useful Siri is, check the other threads. I think it's absolute poop. It's a gimmick and it's still in beta, not that you would gather that from the 4S ads.

I would definitely recommend visiting a store and getting hands on. Do any of your mates have any of the latest handsets? The 4S is a great phone but it's let down by its battery life. I don't use mine to its full capacity and struggle to get 24 hours between charges. With Android handsets, you can always carry a spare battery that will only cost a tenner.

But the threads on here about battery life have folk using their phones normally and getting very good battery life.

Also whilst if i'm going to carry a spare battery about for my android device i may as well carry a portable charger i got for a fiver that can charge my phone up for me. ;)

Battery life is a huge plus point on the 4S, it's superb.

Don't let Davepuma hear you say that, he hates the battery life of the thing !!
Mine took a little tweaking but after that I agree, the battery on my 4S is brilliant !!

Your idea of "brilliant" and "superb" is clearly not the same as mine. There are a few (thousand) that agree with me that have posted on the 'batterygate' thread on macrumors and elsewhere.

There are many millions of 4S owners who haven't. Including me.

A few thousand users out of the millions of iPhone 4S customers seems a reasonable enough percentage to prove your experience is not the standard.

My idea of 'brilliant' and 'superb' is a smartphone I can use properly for two days, without worrying about limiting myself, without turning functionality off and without constantly looking for a power source.

But as you have threads to discuss this already, we need not derail this one any more.
