Faulty Screen? 3g

Hi all,

I have someones iphone at the moment which has had a bit of damage some how... basically im tryin to be helpful for a friend and fix it for as cheap as possible for them (they took out £50 a month contract, 6 months into contract phone has stopped working, hasnt dropped it in water or similar but one of the moisture detectors has gone pink so they wont warranty it, i imagine its just general contact from rain or similar but anyway..).

Ive fixed a few problems with it, but im still left with the main one, a screen that lights up white. its not the old reset / power & home button job. But im told you could hear it responding to touchscreen etc.

Basically i need to know whether its the lcd or the main board, can afford to do the screen, but not the main board.
But before i buy a screen i obviously want to confirm this is defo the problem.

So i was wondering if anyone can confirm it will be the screen? i guess its a hard thing but pervious experience would be welcomed. I've checked the connectors for damage etc.

Or an even longer shot, does anyone have a broken screen (with a different fault, i.e corner smashed but works enough to show some of the home screen) they could lend me ? maybe you've replaced you screen recently etc. Its an Iphone 3g.

THanks for any help. Would really like to sort this for them.

Re: Faulty Screen? 3g

No it stayed white, tho you do occasionally get a bar of blue up the centre when i tried it again, which was interesting, as i seem to remember that the DFU screen does have some blue in it.

I tried DFU again tonight, then played around with it a bit, tried to repair the vibration motor, and now the screen doesnt work at all, so it may have packed up totally.

i really need to try a screen from someone, once i see it show something more positive it will give me some inspiration to spend some money on it. As if its not the screen its a lost cause as it needs a few more things and isnt worth doing. (due to lack of care from some other helpful soul who tried to look at it and caused more damage, tho repairable)
