Re: iPhone OS 3.0 Beta 5

The new version of iTunes kills the ability to do shift+restore to select which firmware you want

This coupled with the fact that the new iTunes checks the validity of any firmware before running it on the iPhone means that this will be the end for jailbreaking unless someone hacks iTunes and releases a patch to get around it

Not downloaded the new firmware or iTunes yet but will later, I believe the new firmware allows you to enter MMS APN settings for your carrier providing your carrier has it enable in their carrier bundle by default. It also apparently disables the Tethering option which was working in the last beta.

Sounds like we could almost be ready for a Release Candidate in time for WWDC.

As a side note you DO NOT need to upgrade iTunes to load Beta 5

Re: iPhone OS 3.0 Beta 5

Sorry - should have said - you need a Developer account with Apple to get it - about £60 or so I think.

Of course I am sure there are less legit ways to get it although we'll forget about them for now
