Ok im a bit new to I-Tunes but i hate it already...Why oh Why is it so ****ing hard to do one simple job.

Ive downloaded a couple of Ricky Gervais podcasts and all i want to do is get them into my Podcasts folder on my i-phone ....Ive tried drop and drag and everything i can think of but it just keeps ending up in my music file..... I had the same problem getting an episode of Lost into my tv shows folder but it only liked my movies folder for some reason ..... Why have they made it so complicated to use for god sake.

Also is there anyway of creating photo albums on the iphone which i can name and split different photos into??

Can anyone help ?? PLEASE !!

Seems like im not alone then.... It amazes me how long I-Tunes has been out and they havent bother to simplify it.

Also While im here does anybody know if you can get downloadable custom sms alerts onto the iphone??

I think the Ricky Gervais downloads are classed as 'audiobooks' rather than podcasts - can you check the audiobooks folder on your ipod?

Ive managed to change the info on the file while in i-tunes ( right clicking on it and then going "veiw info") so its classed as an audiobook, which has then created an audiobook folder where it has gone but i cannot seem to get it into the podcast folder so i guess that will have to do, unless anybody else knows!?

I really cant understand why so many people find iTunes so difficult, yes you might have to change the classification of Movies/TV Shows but thats not too much of a hassle is it.....

In the Podcast tab just select what you want syncing, if its an audiobook then just select the audiobook playlist in the music tab.

Really, its pretty straighforward isnt it

I have to say I agree with you hutch, but then the iPhone isn't my first experience with iTunes as it probably is for a lot of people that use this section of the forum. I've been using it for years and what seems simple to me now, was probably a mission a few years ago!

I dont exactly find it difficult, more frustrating than anything else ...

I just think they could have made things alot more simple than they currently are. The drag and drop is just useless and syncing is so much more of a ball ache than it should be really.

Why would i want a tv-show in my movies folder and podcasts in my music, when ive paid so much more money for an ipod/iphone to have these little extra functions and they dont even work!!

What do you propose to improve the fact that all untagged video files go into the Movies category and all untagged audio files go into the Music category?

If the file is tagged correctly it goes into the right place, if it isnt it goes into the most widely used place isnt that common sense?

Do you work for Apple or something Hutch ?? LOL

All im saying is, that there should be an option to place the music/video file into the catagory of our choosing..... other media players dont seem to have a problem doing this simple job. I just dont find it very user friendly, especially to people like myself that are new to I-Tunes.

I agree, I think it is brilliant just as it is. Dont think it needs changing at all, but thats my opinion.

The amount of times I have seen people stumped by iTunes is unreal, once you take a few minutes to figure out how it does things then its so simple

Where have you downloaded the podcasts from? did you do it directly from the iTunes Store? If not, that might be your problem.

Here's what I just did

1. Fire up iTunes
2. Go to the Podcast section of the Store
3. Search for Ricky Gervais, and Subscribe to his Podcast.
4. Let the episode download
5. Once done, plug in the iPhone, let it Sync. Once finished, unplug and go into iPod on the phone - the Gervais podcast will be sitting there for you in Podcasts
6. If it hasn't Synced, check the Sync Podcasts is ticked in the iPhone options

Unlike a lot of other audio players/phones which use drag & drop/disk mode to transfer files, iPods & iPhones don't work like that. You have to use iTunes to build up and manage your library, and when you connect your device it makes a copy of all or part of your Library Contents

Its like the classic case of people wiping the iTunes Library on their computer, then plugging in their iPod and wondering why the music on the iPod was deleted as well.....
