o2 refusing to enable MMS on iPhone contracts anymore

Just been on the phone 3 times to O2 trying to get them to enable MMS messaging on my iPhone contract (so I can use Swirly).

Each time they have told me they're not allowed to enable it anymore due to the new software coming out this summer. Last lady I spoke to said she knew she was able to enable it last month and put me on hold to see if it was still possible. Got back to me and told me it no longer can be done (think O2 are working with apple to see how they are going to charge for MMS in the new software).

Has anyone been able to get MMS enabled in the last couple of weeks then? or is this just O2 trying to fob me off, I know it can take a few calls before they finally enable it for you sometimes.

I've tried ringing them whilst my sim is in my iPhone and have tried with my sim in a different phone.

Its so annoying, all I want is to be able to use Swirly

Its not that have to "enable" MMS, if your sim card was in a different phone before, but they need to deactivate the MMS function so that picture messages get routed to an O2 mailbox (I think) and you can retreive them from there.

I called up and got mine taken off couple of weeks ago when I downloaded the MMS app and it works a treat now.

Hope that helps

Re: o2 refusing to enable MMS on iPhone contracts anymore

Just had a quick dig around and found the website that I got help from.

Take a look here;

I'm not recieving MMS messages / PIN from O2

The phrase I was stuggling for earlier was "de-provision"

Cheers mate,

Guess I'll just have to keep pestering O2 till they give in

Would the MMS app from the appstore not work until you phoned O2? I thought you only needed to enter a PIN to be able to send and receive using that app.

Yeah, Swirly works differently to the MMS app on the App Store.

From what I gather you need them to activate mms to use Swirlymms and deactivate to use the MMS app, I could be wrong though.

No, I was not getting anything when someone sent me an MMS.

Only after I called O2 and had MMS de-provisioned did it work.

Cheers

the best thing to say is that you are running iphone os 3.0 and that you need to use the stock messaging up now it has mms.
