Iphone Price Drop

Dont get too excited seems they are giving it to you free on contract from May instead of charging £100.Making way for a new model june/july.
Wonder if the PAYG version will be reduced in price no mention of that.

Re: Iphone Price Drop

I hope they give us an option of upgrading and starting a new contract when the new one is released.

I can't see them doing that, they got us in for 18 months from when we started, any history of them doing it before?

i never knew that, that is mighty generous of them,

what was the exact deal?

if you were three months into a contract, would they just renew 18 months from then ? and would you part ex your old phone and pay money on top?

thanks

Re: Iphone Price Drop

not sure, but my workmate got his 2g in march / april n then around oct took the deal for a 3g, he got a new contract n phone n sold his 2g on ebay.

if they do the same deal i guess it will be just a renewal of the 18 months n a new phone.

i got mine the end on jan so it would just move down n restart 18months when the new one is out, rather than waitin till the end of mine next year n upgrading

Re: Iphone Price Drop

The 2G to 3G upgrade was allowed to be done mid contract because the 2G phone was not subsidised.

The 3G phone is subsidised and therefore O2 are unlikely to allow 3G users to upgrade mid contract.

Thats right i think the 8gb was £269 and the 16gb £329 then you took it home and signed up to the contract online.
Wonder if they will drop the price of PAYG 8gb to £242 as they did with the 2g £100 price reduction

They may compromise and offer a deal for people who are over 12 months into the contract. The subsidy should be cleared by then, depending on the contact. Or they may allow an upgrade so long as you sign up to a 24 month contract from the upgrade date.

There are ways of making this sort of thing work, but I agree entirely that it wont be the same as before.

Given the 16GB 3G was £399.99 on release, what is your idea of "reasonable"?

I'm waiting until the summer then looking at the options
