Is the iPhone for me?

Hi all!

So I have never considered an iPhone untill I had a little play in my local carphone warehouse and I have to say I was very impressed .

However I have had a bad experience with a full touchscreen phon (LG Viewty) How much better is the iPhone? I mainly txt, how easy is this?

Also now the problem. I am in an orange contract but could sell my current handset to fund the iPhone but what are the chances of the phone being the newest verson out of the box? IE will I be able to unlock it ? I hope the answer is yes .

I did ask the salesman what version was on the phones in the stock room and he wouldnt check, the display version was on 2.0 !

Regards,
Stuart.

Re: Is the iPhone for me?

The viewty is a dog to use compared to the iphone its like chalk and cheese.
If its on 2.2 firmware you can unlock it.
If its on 2.2.1 it cant be unlocked.
Cant you return the phone for a refund if its the wrong firmware ( i think it will still be 2.2 firmware) and just say you didnt like it.Ask the guy in the shop as im sure theres a 7 day period that you can return it not 100% sure tho.

Re: Is the iPhone for me?

Thanks for the reply .

I took the plunge today and got myself the 8gb from my local 02 shop as Carphone Warehouse didn't have any sims and wouldnt sell me the phone without one .

When I got home I was like a kid at xmas, I dived into the settings and confirmed it was unlockable . 30 mins later my orange sim was in and working like a dream .

I am more than impressed, this phone quite simply blows the Viewty out of the water!! Just one question, is it possible to turn on sms delivery reports?

Regards,
Stuart.

Re: Is the iPhone for me?

I currently have the Viewty, I have had it since launch, and it is possibly the worst phone I have ever used,(build quailty etc.) when I've chosen an upgrade/new phone I will put a hammer through the screen asap! regarding delivery reports, I'm sure you can get them as a mate has the 2G iPhone and he was getting delivery reports through, but not sure what you have to do

Re: Is the iPhone for me?

iPhone is 100 times more resposive than Viewty in the touch screen department.
