iPhone newbie here...

Hi all, after about 2 hours on the phone to o2, I finnaly managed to get a free iPhone out of them as I upgraded my contract and have a few questions...

1) If I jailbreak the iPhone, does this mean I can download apps for free rather than paying for them? If so, is this the only/main benefit? Can the jailbreak be reversed incase it breaks and I need o2 to repair it?

2) What are the speeds like on the unlimited o2 internet? I have it on my Nokia N95 8GB and it doesn't seem to quick?

3)Are there applications for the GoogleMail, Sky remote record, and eBay UK?

Thanks very much

Jailbreaking is great, It doesn't remove the pricing from Apps from the app store but it does allow you to download alot of apps for nothing (even some paid ones).... You can add sources for your apps and private sources host alot of ilegal apps...
It can be reversed by restoring your iPhone and you can re-jailbreak it at any time...
You get alot more than just free apps but it's what the apps do, I'm sure somewhere it tells you everything about Jailbreaking....
It takes less than 5 minutes to Jailbreak on a windows system....

The speeds are great on 3G and EDGE, Downloads are pretty good and it has wi-fi too....

They're alot of apps, I know there is an Ebay app, I'm pretty sure there is something to do with GMail but you can check the app store yourself from iTunes....

Feel free to message me about anything else....

1. 1st part cant be discussed on these forums As for jailbreaking well worth it 3rd party apps complete customisation have a browse through here

http://www.avforums.com/forums/iphon...ns-thread.html

2. Its your normal 3G speeds, dont forget it also gives you access to all the wifi points in places like Costa Coffee etc (Cloud). Its just a whole lot easier to browse on the iphone because its so responsive and easy to navigate

2. yup there are apps for these just open up itunes and have a browse through the applications. Googlemail though is best to be setup on the native email app which is really easy to do!

Re: iPhone newbie here...

1. What they said about jailbreaking

2. 3G is perfectly adequate on the iphone, 3G speeds were poor on the N95. I never really turn my 3G on, i use edge most of the time as it saves battery, although you can now use youtube and download apps and music via 3G.

3. I use googlemail and have it set up using IMAP on the native mail app on my iphone, its brilliant and easy to do. My phone checks for email every 15 mins, so when my freinds are at work they email me instead of text.
