Buying from US eBay

I know it would probably be locked to AT&T, but if I was to unlock it anyway would it really matter if I bought from US eBay?

New phones are 2.2.1 firmware and cant be unlocked

Im confused by your question, a 2.2.1 US iPhone is useless over here because it will be locked to AT&T.

It also wont have a warranty and from what I can see they arent cheap in the US so there are absolutely no benefits from buying from the US.
