text message and voicemail alerts

hi all,

this is probably a really stupid question, but when people leave a voicemail or text for me the iphone keeps buzzing at me until i either look at it or ring voicemail.

can't i set it to buzz/tone just once? if i'm busy i can't ring the voicemail and the incessent buzzing drivers me nuts.
