using 3 network APN?

Sorry to have yet another post on ths topic but having searched I can't find the answer, though many people seem to have acheived this.
I bought a new 8G and jailbroke and unlocked as per Dev team instructions. It worked a treat and up came the three network straight away (thanks to the guys who developed this).
However I cannot get internet access, just a message saying server stopped responding. So, does anyone know the correct APN settings, including user id and password (if required). Anything else I need to modify?
some of this is a mystery to me so and assistance gratefully received
thanks

Re: using 3 network APN?

Many thanks, all seems to work OK and I don't even have the data add on, I guess I will have to monitor spend. Mind you where I live the signal is so bad it frequently fails to load, hence the problems I had. I tried it when in a good reception area and no problems.

Re: using 3 network APN?

Well, all worked ok for a month, but I spent loads of money. So I upgraded to the maxi internet addon for £5.00 a month. Now I get a message saying "could not access cellular network".
What have they done?

Re: using 3 network APN?

more than likely nothing

you see us being on 3 sometimes the phone thinks it has reception when it doesn't

have you tried a full restart?

also make sure data roaming is active

Hello there, any joy in getting this working? I'm very close to buying an iphone but dont want to cancel my 3 contract as I still have a year left on it, also I've got a pretty good deal going with them.

Anyways would like to know if the Internet Max thing is working for you and if all the internet functions work as would do on an o2 SIM.

Thanks in advance.

Re: using 3 network APN?

It all works just fine now,
I put the sim in a three phone, internet did not work in that either, I phoned 3, they suggested trying another phone, which I did and it worked in that. Put the sim back in the iphone and it was just fine.
so everything is now OK and I can say that the unlock works OK on three.
thanks
to all.

That's really good to know, I'll probably buy one now! Could i please ask you how long you've had it for and are there any limitations at all with being on 3 and using it. Any advice would be great!

Cheers!

Re: using 3 network APN?

I have had mine since January 14th. Bought used from ebay, locked to O2. I just followed the instructions to jailbreak/unlock and it worked straight off on 3 network. I did buy an O2 pay and go sim, but did not use it. Everything was ok but I used lots of data, so bought the internet add on. Had a bit of trouble (see above) but it sorted OK. Since then no problems or issues or limitations, apart from lack of 3g signal where I live and where I work. Same for all networks, just poor coverage.
I have not tried push email, but it works fine when I fetch.
go get one!

Re: using 3 network APN?

i bought one this week, only problem is that it already had firmware 2.2.1 so theres no way of unlocking it *yet* as far as i can tell!

So I'm now one of those ******* with 2 phones until they unlock 2.2.1!

Re: using 3 network APN?

I am on three also and can get everything to work except for mms picture messaging, does anyone know the settings to get that to work for me. Also when I was changing my price plan in the three store the guy there told me that there was a way to get Planet3 to work with the iPhone but he didn't elaborate... anyone?

cheers, David.

MMS Proxy: 217.171.129.2:8799

hi all

i recently bought an htc hero on orange, unlocked it and put a 3 sim in which registered straight away but I couldnt access 3G or the internet. I spent ages onthe phone to 3 and went into the store and tried all their settings but couldnt get it to work. I had a quick look on here and tried some settings again and I did manage to get it to access 3G for the first time. However, I still cant get on the internet. Is there anything else I need to do? My details are:

Name: 3services
APN: three.co.uk
APN type: default

thanks

You can't use iplayer with 3g only wifi, try changing the APN as I said this might fix the youtube problem
