Iphone bluetooth / car radio

Hi, I've already posted this on the ICE forum section, with no success. I am trying to pair my 1st gen iphone with the radio on my ford focus (08) radio but it cannot be found by the iphone.
Although, the radio has red and green icon buttons I am not absolutely sure that the radio is bluetooth enabled as the manual is extremely vague. I have heard somewhere that the iphone bluetooth feature is only compatible with apple accessories. If this is the case, does anybody know a workaround, as I am keen to get this working if at all possible?

Re: Iphone bluetooth / car radio

Are you trying to stream music from your iphone to your radio?

If the answer is yes sorry it wont work, the iPhone will only pair with Headsets for calls.

Re: Iphone bluetooth / car radio

Hi Hutch, I can stream music ok through a socket in the glove compartment, what I want to do is use the phone through bluetooth via the radio, make / answer calls etc. I've just tried to pair an lg phone as well now with no success. so I'm coming to the conclusion that either I'm missing out something when trying to pair phones, or, the radio does not have bluetooth in which case why the heck does the radio have the the 2 x phone buttons on.
By the way the radio manual is an absolute nightmare as it covers about 12 different models / variations but nowhere does it itemise what features are on any particular version.

Sounds like the BT function on the radio is not switched 'on' so to speak.

Re: Iphone bluetooth / car radio

It'sthe 6000 cd version no make on it, don't know if you have access to a manual, if you do there are 2x versions of the 6000cd shown, the one I have is the one shown in the bottom left hand corner and looks like the latest version to me.
It would be greatly appreciated if you could throw some light on this for me

Re: Iphone bluetooth / car radio

Same problem. Iphone 3G will find my built in Ford Audio via bluetooth, but will not connect to it. I just want to make and receive handsfree calls. Any ideas ??
