Are O2 Fixed on Iphone Tarrifs?

Most people know that if you make enquiries into leaving a particular tarrif they usually start making you offers to keep you as a customer.

Anyone know if this is the same with the Iphone?

I am considering the Samsung Omnia on Vodafone as its cheaper although would like the iphone. If I phone O2 to leave them will they make me an offer for the iphone or are their hands tied over the cost of the iphone?

as far as i know o2 have no control over the iphone pricing, it comes straight from apple
thats how it was for a long time at least

I'm also considering the iphone, spoken to o2 a couple of times now with the hope of negotiating a better tariff, but was told that apple specify the tariffs! Not sure whether thats true or if they were playing hardball

Thanks for the replies. I had an idea they wouldnt budge on their prices for the iphone. I'm currently on one of their rolling contracts waiting for a great phone/tarriff offer. Looks like I will just have to stump up the cash.
