auto dimming black light on iPhone?

Hi
Could anyone tell me if the backlight will dim after a given period
If left? I don't want it to go onto standby and lock.

You can turn the auto lock off in the General Settings menu... but I don't think that you can turn off the auto dim/standby.

mmm my backlight doesn't go out at all once the phone is unlocked unless it is put into standby. That means if you put the autolock off, the light just stays on unless i manually put it into standby! This isn't right is it?

Yes it is, the backlight doesnt go off until the phone is locked.

Do you have a Jailbroken iPhone?
If so, download Supreme Preferences via Cydia - this will enable an option to Auto Dim on the existing Brightness settings page

Yet another good reason to Jailbreak!

Just found this thread via a Google search to see if I can get my iPod Touch to auto dim but not lock.

I am using the Remote app for iTunes and it seems daft you cannot get it to auto dim (to save on battery) but wake up when you pick it up. I can't find an app to do this either. I guess I can look in to jailbreaking it, but will probably just hope they introduce this obvious feature.

If there is a solution then I would love to hear about it.
