Replacing my Blackberry...

I'm about to upgrade my Blackberry 8100 and really would like an iphone. Only problem is that I must stay on Vodafone (got the family on the free numbers package, and I only moved them away from T Mobile/Orange and O2 to get the deal )

My question is how easy would it be to run an Iphone on Vodafone? I'd obviously have to shell out major ££ for a PAYG iphone on O2, ditch the sim and get a Vodafone data and email tariff. Am I right in thinking that Vodafone's own email package would give me push email from gmail?

I'm willing to live with the less than perfect keyboard as the amount of apps makes it very appealing.

Is there anything else I haven't thought of? Has anyone actually done this? I presume not running it on O2 has no other downsides?

Re: Replacing my Blackberry...

plenty of people run iphones on "other" providers. Especially now with the unlock it is even easier....no need for turbosim type of stuff.

You would need an internet/mail tariff in order to make full use of the iphone.

Not so expensive anymore...price for the 16GB has dropped to £391

Re: Replacing my Blackberry...

I ran 2G iphone on vodafone for quite a while before upgrading to 3G on o2 and it was fine, all you need to do is add a browsing package. Best bet is to upgrade when the time comes to something like a blackberry storm with browsing package included and then put it on ebay to cover the costs of the iphone.
