Think I found a way to watch iPlayer over 3G but...

Are o2 likely to do anything?

After all they (from waht I undertsand) have locked out iplayer from 3G connectivity.

What you guys think? Think I'll be ok? Is there any thing in T&C's about misuse of unlimited data plan in this way?

Don't wanna end up with a massive bill, or worse... lol

I really doubt it's part of their fair use policy. How did you get it working btw?

Sorry, I was just referring to that as an example as one of the rules. I mean is there likely to be one around using services prohibited?

I mean after all they locked it out in the first place.

What would likely happen?

I'll try it now. If it works I'll make a thread about how to do it.

Phone needs to be Jailbroken, but method is simple!

Managed to get iPlayer to give me a differnet pop up (see attachment).

Hopefully a tweak here and there can fix it!

I thought it was that, but then someone took them to court for unfair advertising and they dropped it.

Its 2gb I believe before you'll hit trouble on both iPhone and Simplicity tariffs - PAYG I believe is still 200mb.

I thought there would be something like this, but;

1) What about YouTube?
2) What are the likely penalties?

Re: Think I found a way to watch iPlayer over 3G but...

Am I going mad or is this thread a little weird.

Someone thinks they might have found a way to view the IPlayer on 3G BUT they're not quite sure yet. Mmmm? my mates said this 3 months ago and they're still trying BUT apparently they are so near to doing it now.

Then someone is talking about the hyperthetical penalties attached to a possible mis use of the downloading policy.

There's too much why, what to's and where for's.

My advice: Just do it and see what happens.
As long as you don't take the ****** nothing tends to happen.

The downloading policy is just to stop abuse and mis use.
Streaming using radio and low quality Youtube is OK, however I suppose if you were using these facilities 10 hours a day then expect to receive a warning letter from O2 in the post. Common sense really.

.
My buddy showed me an app that tricks the handset (or server) into thinking it is on WiFi. It was worked as he downloaded a 30MB file of iTunes over 3G (10MB is the limit over 3G).

If you can use SHH then u can configure the app to trick what applications you like (Ok so it's not that simple).

So, as he showed me this app already working, I guess it could work over iPlayer too.

However before I tried, I thought I would try find out if o2 would get funny about it.

Sorry if it came across a little strange to you that I wanted to research any concequences of any action, before I actually do it.

If anything, I though that was common sense
