My new iphone appears to be playing up a bit.

It successfully downgrades according to network availability eg Wifi - 3G - Edge - GPRS.

I am guessing that the E symbol is Edge and the o symbol is GPRS yes?

But it sometimes fails to updgrade again. ie all of today at work I have had 4 signal bars but no symbol after that at all and attempting to access emails I get the message no network available or something similar. My colleague who also has an iphone had E or 3g depending on where he was standing in the room.

Any ideas?

I got an Iphone about ten days ago and had issues with fluctuating signal strength and randomly dropped calls. Yesterday I went to an O2 shop and got a new handset and everything seems to be fine now.
I suggest you do the same.

All seems well now. I reset the phone and have had no problems since. Thanks for the replies.
