iphone payg or contract - best deal?

Hi all - got a 3G iphone unlocked on payg at the mo: but use it for youtube and data (email) mainly - occasional calls / texts rarely.
Whats the best contract to give me maximum data at minimum charge? I dont mind a contract - prefer o2 as my other mobile is on o2:

any thoughts?

thank you

You could get the o2 simplicity sim only contract. You could change the bolt on to unlimted interent browsing. Get 600 mins 1000 texts and unlimted browsing for £20 a month and no contract you can cancel anytime after 30 days.

o2 is my preference - so this is great:

Yes they do - Pay Monthly SIM Only.

£15 / month for 300 mins, unlimited texts, unlimited internet, unlimited 3-to-3 calls. You'll need to get O2 to unlock the phone first though of course (£15 on PAYG).

Of course you get 12 months of free data / wifi with the iPhone on O2 PAYG anyway so could just do that if you really don't do much calling / texting, though if you do more than about 80 mins or 200 texts (or a combination thereof) a month then it will end up more expensive than Simplicity. Always worth considering if you will actually be using the allowance you get with a contract - many people will overpay massively by going for a contract when they don't use anywhere near their allowance.

You could also consider giffgaff (new virtual network which runs on O2 so don't need to bother unlocking an O2 phone) who offer a PAYG service which might suit your usage perfectly - low cost calls (8p/min) & texts (4p), and free internet till the end of May (after that they haven't quite decided what to charge, but it will likely be competitive with the likes of 3). With them you could be using up to 250 mins or 500 texts (or a combination thereof) and still be better off than using Simplicity. If you decide to give them a go then PM me as I can send you a SIM using their friends & family offer and you'll get a bonus £5 with your first top up.

Just checked on the o2 website and the Pay Monthly Sim is 600mins 1200 texts (web offer) with unlimited web bolt on.

Would that mean if I got myself an o2 iphone and bought this sim, I could browse the t'internet all day and use apps at no extra cost?

Could I change the phone number to what I'm using at the moment with Tesco mobile?

I posted a thread earlier but this seems related too.
T-mobile do a sim only deal with 100 texts and 100 minutes a month for £10 on a rolling 30 day contract but you can add unlimited internet booster to the deal as an extra for free.
Im trying to find out if this is all I need for the iphone (ie is it 3g etc.) as this seems to be the best deal I can find
