I have turned off all the skins, but when I try and start the phone application it hangs for a few seconds then the app closes. Any suggestions please

If you have installed "Installer beta" then uninstall it and it should all be fine...

just to confirm would it be the installer 4.0b8-1?

actually there is no uninstall option for that package, so I guess it's not that one.

There wont be an uninstall option for Installer, the only way to get rid is to SSH into the phone and manually delete it or if you have used Pwnage restore with a custom firmware that doesnt have Installer in it.

exactly same happened to me, except i went a step further and tried a reset on the phone by itself which didnt go well,, got it sorted eventually,thanks to Hutch and Matt_c,,, read thru the thread thou,,, couple of apps suggested for the phone app crashing,,,,

hope it helps,,, as far as im concerned the i phone 3G is a ressilliant lill bugger shame some of the softwares a little flakey,,,,,

As I mentioned in Darrens thread, itll be an application called Kate that causes this problem. Unfortunately, theres no way of rectifying it (as far as I can tell) other than restoring and re-jailbreaking.

Dont let it put you off jailbreaking though. Mines been done for a couple of months now with no problems. Apart from programs dropping out, but I know people have this problem on non-jailbroken phones!

Out of interest, how did you uninstall it? I didnt know Kate caused the problem until after id restored.... twice!
