Having a problem updating some apps

There's a couple of apps im trying to up date, when i do the update in the app store it says the app is free, but when it begins to install it will say 'This app is only free to people who have previously purchased it, you can choose to cancel or buy at the full price' anyway, i click buy and then without fail it will say 'cannot install, this item is currently being modified'

has anyone else had this problem and do you know what to do about it?

do you have a us itunes account and a uk account, you need to use what ever account you purchased it on even the free ones to update it. I had the same problem with one app and it was because i purchased it on the uk account and i was trying to updated it when i had logged into the us account.

Re: Having a problem updating some apps

So I've worked it out

I've inadvertantly opened 2 accounts. When i got my iphone I set it up with what i thought was my previous account (sim667) but thinking i had to add @mac.com at the end i ended up with 2 accounts (sim667 and sim667@mac.com), and have been syncing apps purchased on both into the same library and then synced to my iphone. They're refunding me all the ones on my second account and im going to close it. Then buy the apps on the original account....

I think they know this happens a lot, but keep schtum as they make money out of it.
