A couple of questions...

I've had my iPhone 3G since pretty much release day and I've not had one problem with it... until yesterday. Now I'm not sure if 02 was being a little weird yesterday or my phone, here's my problem. If I made a call (or someone called me) it was fine and we could both hear each other ok. After a couple of minutes though, the other person said that I started sounding like I was stuttering and they couldn't hear me, I could hear them fine but when I talked they couldn't understand anything. Since 2.1 I've had full 3G signal at home, the calls did this with 3G on and off so it's not that. This happened a number of times to a few different people. I've not tried it yet today but has anyone got any ideas? I've been running 2.1 since release, the phone is regularly backed up and only has a couple of apps on it.

Also - should I have a 3G sim card? I'm using the same sim I got with my contract 18 months ago. I've read somewhere that you will get a better signal with a 3G card? Any idea?

Thanks in advance

Re: A couple of questions...

I can only say from my experience that I have had no problems with calls on my 3G at all. I'm running the same as you O2 on 2.1. I would say though, when I upgraded my account to the iPhone they did swap my number on to a 3G iPhone sim. I couldn't hurt if you requested one I suppose?

If its a 3G sim card then it'll be part of the part/serial number of the sim - take it out and have a look. I also assume that if its not 3G sim then you wont get 3G signal!
I got my original iPhone in March and only upgradede a few weeks ago - I didnt need a new sim as my original was already 3G ready.

Re: A couple of questions...

Ok thanks for that. I can't take it out now to clarify as I don't have that little tool here at work but I'm pretty sure I've already checked and it didn't have 3G (as someone once recommended looking). Either way though, if it's not a 3G card should I definitely not get a 3G signal or can you still get it because, like I said before, since getting 2.1 my 3G has got a lot better.

Thanks

Re: A couple of questions...

If you're getting 3G signal then you have a 3G simcard

Thanks for clearing that up, I've heard a few people tell a few different stories

Re: A couple of questions...

Paperclip will get the sim card slot open it did the job on the 2g model anyway.
