ATTN iPhone users on T-Mobile...

What do I need to put into the APN settings for iPhone on T-Mobile?

It's got nothing in there at the mo, but I am a little worried it's not using the right service to access the web and I don't want to end up with a fat bill!

My account has the Web'n'Walk pack applied and worked fine on my Nokia, user name was general.t-mobile.co.uk or something like that, username was t-mobile but of course, the password shows as **** - which is no good!

What do you guys use?

Could you not just ring T-Mobile and tell them you've reset your phone and need the settings again?

No, they send an SMS to the phone, but as far as I am told, it's model specific, and I'm registered as having a Nokia N73, and they don't support iPhones

Re: ATTN iPhone users on T-Mobile...

You beauty - I knew I had seen that before but searched here and Google and couldn't find it!

I did give t-mob a ring and they said that the details were;

· APN address: general.t-mobile.uk
· Username : user
· Password: one2one

which I put in and it's carried on working. But as I said, it worked fine when it was blank, so I'm wondering it it's built into the SIM? Or maybe it's cos I'm connecting via GPRS and not 3G?

Re: ATTN iPhone users on T-Mobile...

Yeah, it was working before I even put those details in.... I put em in anyway, just to be see really...

As for speed - slow LOL. But to be honest, not HUGELY slower than my Nokia (N73), and I put that down to although the GPRS connection is slower than 3G, the iPhone processes the downloaded data faster than my Nokia did/does

AV Forums takes a good 30-45 seconds to load, can be longer on a search. Google is pretty quick, google images isn't. I've loaded YouTube just to see if it works, but didn't bother playing a video....

Had a browse through Cydia, and it's not TOO bad, but I can see why people wanted the 3G one (I still do, but not for a long while yet! )

Be better when my wifi is back up and running, but then, I bought it to use mobile - got three damned PC's in the house for home use LOL...

Gonna be with me all week long at work tho next week, so shall really put it through it's paces then

Wonder how long before T-Mobile send me a letter for going over the "1GB a month advised usage" their "unlimited" Web N Walk has

Re: ATTN iPhone users on T-Mobile...

Does anyone have the iPhone 3G on the T-mobile web n walk,,, just wandered apart from the visual voicemail does everything else work and where did you buy the phone from and did you get a good price.

I really want the iphone but get little or no reception at my home address I'm just don't want be tied into an 18 month contract or pay £500 from o2 CPW for the PAYG version for something that may not work at home....

cheers Brian.

Re: ATTN iPhone users on T-Mobile...

Brian - unless you get an iphone from either Italy, Greece or New Zealand (which are the only three places that sell 3G iPhones, officially unlocked by Apple to work on any carrier, and are also the only places that sell 3G iphones without a contract) then you can't have a 3G iPhone on T-Mobile (you could try getting one from Germany, which is locked to T-Mobile, but they don't sell off-contract, I know, I already asked them)

Remember tho, the difference between the iPhones is not software based - it's hardware based. iPhone 3G has 3G and GPS, whereas iPhone 2G doesn't. So whatever works on a 2G will, should, work on a 3G.

And the PAYG 3G from o2, or the CPW, is £350, not £500

As said tho, at the moment, untill the 3G baseband is hacked and the phone can be unlocked, you can't have a 3G handset on any other network in the UK other than o2, unless you import a phone from Italy, Greece or New Zealand

Re: ATTN iPhone users on T-Mobile...

Great post Matt. I now know where I can look to buy.
Do you know if the 2G and 3G are the same processors and hardware spec. I know the software is more or less the same.
I only ask, as I looked at an o2 phone in a shop today and all the functions were quicker than my 2.1 2G
