iPhone 3g in car cradle

Hi,

I recently purchased one of the above and it was crud (the CPW rip off one that is a universal phone cradle and falls off all the time).

I've searched the web for one and come up with a few, but none seem to have been reviewed. Apple don't sell one (as yet).

Has anyone got one they'd recommend?

Thanks

Re: iPhone 3g in car cradle

No one seems to do anything solid enough not to fall off the screen all the time.

Re: iPhone 3g in car cradle

I have this one LINKY , I actually got it from this buyer as well, works out about £10+ cheaper than from Apple and arrived in 2 days for me.

The arm does vibrate a little when driving (car dependent!! if you have some flash car it may not, I don't ), but nothing major, and it's never fallen off. But one nice touch with it, you can secure your iphone and then rotate the holder to a horizontal position, great for when using GPS and Maps to get around

Re: iPhone 3g in car cradle

Not cheap but the best by a long way are Brodit holders and proclip screwless mounts.

http://www.dsldevelopments.com/

Active versions charge as well.

Once you've had a brodit mount you won't buy an Ebay cheapy again

Re: iPhone 3g in car cradle

The Brodit holders looks good and don't mind the cost as long as it works. Looking at them though, they aren't mounted via an arm, does this cause a problem with the iPhone being too far away?

*edit* Ignore me, just realised they're dashboard mounted*

Cheers

Re: iPhone 3g in car cradle

I bought the new brodit mount with pass through for the cable. Just had it delivered, but not got the proclip I ordered yet.

Bought it from www.qfonic.com for £30 including postage. Ordered on Sat, got it today.

DSL developments are charging £46 + postage.

The mount fits the phone great. Haven't tried it in the car linked to the audio, but it works fine charging with the apple usb cable.

Re: iPhone 3g in car cradle

I've finally got my iphone car setup completed, and I'm very pleased with it.

Definately recommend the brodit iphone 3g cradle with pass through.

My setup consists of:

Connects2 aux adapter for VW (£23 inc p&P off ebay)
Griffin autopilot aux (£21 inc p&p from Amazon marketplace)
Brodit iPhone 3G cradle with pass though (£30 free p&p from www.qfonic.com)
Brodit vent proclip for VW (£18 in p&p from dsldevelopments)

Fairly expensive but gives me:
Slot in / out cradle
Charging
Prev, Next, Play and Pause buttons on the Lighter stalk (no need to mess with the phone)
CD quality sound
iphone in a great position for viewing maps etc.

The cradle is very good quality and is secure enough to turn the phone on its side for a landscape view of the maps.

My only gripe is with the phone itself. If I've got the maps on to follow directions and press Prev / Next on the lighter stalk the phone changes to ipod mode and I have to mess about with the screen to get back to maps. Anyone know if you can stop the phone doing this?
