Wifi Help

Had my iPhone now for about 4 hours, despite the uselessness of CPW!
Anyway really very impressed with it, the Apps are excellent, Google Maps Class and my email works brilliantly, 3G signal not great but the weather is crap tonight so wondering if thats causing a problem.

Anyway been trying to connect the iPhone to my Belkin Router but it won't work, it takes the WEP key but then just won't connect so frustrated with it and I can't see that anything is wrong, any help would be appreciated.

Chris

Re: Wifi Help

Yes, make sure you put caps lock on for any letters which need to be in capitals, the iphone automatically puts them in lowercase unless you apply caps before each letter.

Re: Wifi Help

Hi there mate,

I had this very issue, it was a linksys router, but when i changed the router to a BEbox one, it now connects !

So this lead me to believe its the router for certain not the iphone. try changing mixed/g-only/b-only etc.

Re: Wifi Help

Has anyone found a workaround for this? I disabled my security and it still wouldn't connect so I suspect it might just be a Belkin issue.

A little browsing brought up this from J.Joshua on the Apple support site, I tried it with no success though. Really hacked off.

"I was able to make my iphone work on my home wirless connection by choosing from the main screen
"settings" then "Wi-fi" then under "Choose a Network" I selected my home network (Belkin) (little blue arrow at the end) then under "IP Address" I chose the "static" button clicked on the "DNS" numbers and entered the the DNS addresses of my router as show on the summary page when I logged on to my router from my home computer. As for how to log on to your router and find your DNS addresses refer to your router documentation. I tried many of the other solutions and this is so far the only way I could get a connection to actually work. It would always show the strong network signal on my phone but would not be able to connect to the internet and find the server. Like some others who have posted, until this solution I was able to borrow a connection from my neighbor with no problems but his router was a linksys."

I spoke to someone at Belkin who advised me that my Virgin router was bypassing the Belkin one and that was why my iPhone wouldn't work, I reset it then setup my security again and my iPhone worked fine after that!
