Creating an App - Anyone tried it or going to?

With me not being able to remember the last day I didn't download an app of some description from the App Store, it's started to dawn on me the true potential of the store. That there's still some apps missing that I think would be useful and would love to make myself. Now I'm not going to lie, the money side also interests me, but for the most part, I'd just like some kick ass apps on my iPhone.

Now the one thing stopping me at the moment jumping straight in is the fact that I don't know any computer languages. Quite a few of you guys on here I know do, so I was just wondering has anyone tried creating an app with the SDK or hoping to do so in the near future?

If so, could you offer any pointers to a total newb please?

Ive considered it a few times but havent really got to chance to sit down and do it.

I believe the SDK is very easy to use and doesnt require masses of coputer programming knowledge to get something up and running.

...and of course you have to pay for the SDK as well - how much is it? If it was only a few quid it would be worth play around with, but anything over £50 - £100 pounds and you would have to consider if it was worth it.

The SDK is free to use and includes an iphone simulater to test with.

You need to sign up to the developer program to be able to test the app on your iphone and distribute the app - this costs $99

http://developer.apple.com/iphone/program/

Only downside (for me) is that there's no windows version of the SDK, otherwise I'd have a dabble.
