Firmware 2.0.1 is now out!

249mb

Nothing major, just bug fixes.

Seems to make the whole phone "snappier" though, so a welcomed update

Re: Firmware 2.0.1 is now out!

After my day , the new firmware at least brings a happy end

Definitely quicker, I haven't been able to get the keyboard to lag on SMS, quitting out of applications appears snappier (really is the word of this update) as well, and in general everything feels more instant...

The other thing I noticed, but is hard to judge now... The colour temperature has gone a bit colder, not as blue as the original phone, but it appears they've adjusted it after people complained the colour temp was too warm...

And the thing that bugged everyone, and would of probably saved me having to fully restore my phone tonight... Backup ....with 25+ apps installed it took about 45 minutes before, and now it took 3 MINUTES

Re: Firmware 2.0.1 is now out!

After the update I still get compilation album artists showing up with my album artists on my 3G iPhone. This is really starting to annoy me as my iPod dosn't do it. Anyone know how to prevent this happening

Updated Itunes and Iphone. Syncing is still takes forever . Currently sitting at "Syncing Contacts" and has been for 20 minutes, using Outlook 2007 with about 80 contacts. Still have Calendar, mail and book marks to do

Would be nice to have change log as all we have at the moements is, "bug fixes"

Re: Firmware 2.0.1 is now out!

Once downloaded, mine took somewhere between 5 and 10 minutes to 'update firmware' - I thought it'd hung up but then I got the success message. I've not noticed much but the slight lag when you first go into your contact list seems to have gone

Does the update process flatten the memory - meaning all my iTunes has be transferred over again?

no, it won't erase everything don't worry.

I've noticed that when browsing apps, it appears a little quicker

Re: Firmware 2.0.1 is now out!

Have any of you guys who've already updated, noticed any changes in the signal strength your getting?

Having not got iTunes at work, I won't be able to update till I get home but I'm kinda hoping that one of the major things they fixed/changed/improved is the reception. Hopefully all they have to do is turn up the radio power.

Re: Firmware 2.0.1 is now out!

I take it updating the firmware whenever it is available is a good thing to do ??

I just know that sometimes this sort of thing can bring more problems than it solves. Someone on here once said "if it ain't broke..."

Don't mean to be overly cautious i just don't want to break something i queued an hour or so to get

It's good as long as you don't intend to jailbreak.

I've been having a few issues with the current firmware and safari in particular, so this is a welcome update for me.

And it won't break it

Signal has not changed I have noticed the "Lag" on SMS message writing and when you first enter the contacts list has now gone. Those were little annoyances, shame they didnt add SMS forwarding too!

Beware jailbreakers!

you're aware that this update will a) remove any jailbreak-installed apps, and b) makes a change to the baseband radio that may make it permanently unlockable in future?

it'll probably get pwned eventually, but if you're using jailbroken apps I'd steer clear for a while...

hmmmm - hardly seems to be a widespread problem. Tried restoring your phone without reinstalling a backup? I was having myriad problems at first but a restore fixed it.

Re: Firmware 2.0.1 is now out!

I've not experienced any issues but thought I'd upgrade anyway.
However just before it was finishing installing the update I got an error message "Unexpected error 13".

I then had to restore and then I attempted to upgrade again which fortunately worked.

Seems a little quicker to me.
