Problems opening downloaded apps, would a restore work?

Hey all downloaded a few extra apps, like the beer thing and the lightsaber. Anyway after a sync I would click on them, they would open and close within around a second, plus my location finder also hasn't be finding since I downloaded the google maps app.
Now I'm going to restore my iPhone via iTunes, I'm just worried I'm going to lose my contact, would that happen? Or does the backup, backup that stuff as well?

Thanks all!

The backup contains everything that is on the phone. If you do a restore then it will have all the data it had on it before including your contacts, bookmarks in Safari, songs, videos etc. Obviously it depends on when you last did a backup.

Just powering off fully once (or some say twice) usually fixes the quitting apps problem (press and hold power on button for 5 seconds then slide the "slide to power off" slider.)

It's definitely a bug, and will likely be fixed in the next minor update. I'm not sure that restoring is going to do anything better. Quicker to delete the app and re-sync.

Problems with locating seem to be fixed by (1) setting auto off preference to "never" (2) go outside and let it attempt to do the "locate me" thing for up to ten minutes until it finds you accurately. Seems to be an initialisation problem.

Once it's working, auto off setting doesn't seem to matter.

Re: Problems opening downloaded apps, would a restore work?

This was happening to me, and I was given the following advice.

1) Change your iTunes password

2) Don't get apps via the AppStore, get them via iTunes.

I thought the second one was silly but I did change my iTunes password and I've not had the issue since. I am still using the AppStore on the phone as well. Apparently, it's an iTunes authorization issue.
