Hi

I am currently on a o2 simplicity tariff (sim only) and i want to get the 3g iphone and contract from the carphonewarehouse website.

I want to keep my o2 number, so do i need a pac code or can i upgrade straight?

Any help would be great, thanks

If your going to carphone warehouse on 02 network then yes you will need a pac code. if you stay with 02 and just upgrade from pay as you go to contract then you wont need one.

you cant keep your o2 number and purchase from the cpw website.

the info above is incorrect - you cant PAC from O2 to O2 the network told me that directly.

as an o2 simplicity customer your only option with CPW is to do it in store

You don't need a PAC code to upgrade from O2 simplicity to iPhone 3G tariff.

You can upgrade instore or alternatively take out a new contract and phone up O2 via 202 and get them to upgrade your simplicity sim to an iPhone 3G tariff. The sim that comes with the iPhone will be a temporary number and will be cancelled once the changeover is complete. It can take up to 48 hours to be fully activated but once it's done all features work including visual voicemail.

I was in a similar situation, wanted to upgrade from simplicity 20+data bolt-on (used in a jailbroken iPhone 2G) to an iPhone 3G, however I wanted a white 16GB phone so I had no choice but to go to an Apple Store. I took out a new contract with the iPhone 3G and contacted customer services from my simplicity handset, initially with the view to cancel my simplicity tariff and port my number over. Although there was a little confusion among a couple of the c/s advisors i spoke to at o2, I finally got sent through to someone in retentions who sorted out the upgrade (this was just after the July 11th release so i expect O2 c/s to be better informed about the upgrade process now.)

Got the iphone today from CPW high street store. They rang o2 who said i did need a o2 online pac code and then my number was ported over to o2 direct for the 3g contract.

iPhone contracts are the same whether you get it from CPW or O2 anyway aren't they? i.e my contract has nothing whatsoever to do with CPW just O2?
