Well i was just randomly browsing and came across this mod for the iPhone. Basically give the chrome edge of the iPhone a brushed metal look. I have attached some pics from a different forum. Also here is a youtube video about it:

In my opinion, it looks great, but i'm still unsure as it could reduce resale value. I would be scared trying to scratch up my precious iPhone 3G! And once you do it...there's no going back!

I really like that, but like you said, I would be too worried I would scratch the plastic back or something.
