iPhone 3g Charging Question.

Hi all..

Could someone please tell me how long should the iphone 3g take to charge from completly dead battery to a full charged battery.

I charged mine last night from a complete dead and it took 5hrs 30 mins, DOES THIS TIME SEEM RIGHT. I was charging with the mains adapter and the phone was completly switched off.

How long does your iphone 3g take to charge from a complete dead battery to full?.

From USB or mains?

5 hours seems quite a long time.

I tend to keep mine well topped up, so can't comment personally, however, from this info on MacInTouch, 5 hours from mains isn't too far wrong, perhaps:-

Just did some more tests

when my battery gets to the 10% charge remaining messsege i put the phone on charge switched OFF on the mains adapter and that takes around 3 hrs to fully charge.....if i charge it switched ON it takes 1hr 40 mins.

Does this seem right?
Why does it take longer to charge when switched off than on?

Any help will be greatful just want to get to the bottom of this and make sure my battery is fine and i don't need to exchange my phone.
