Warranty 3G phone

Anyone any info re UK warranty situation?
Phone bought at Apple store, 18 month minimum O2 contract. Would I be being naive to assume it is guaranteed until the end of the 18 months contract?
Expect the Sales of Goods Act might come into play, but a hassle to have to argue the case, would nice to know it from the off.

Re: Warranty 3G phone

Naive yes. 12 month warranty only I am afraid.

I am pretty sure if the iphone went tits up after 12 months, you can probably get a new iphone from O2 and start your 18 months all over again.

Re: Warranty 3G phone

The standard warranty from Apple is only one year as far as I'm aware. If anything happens after that there is no guarantee that Apple will repair or replace it for free. It all depends on the situation, whats wrong with it and who you talk to. Within the one year warranty Apple are very good.

I had a problem with the headphone connection and the proximity sensor on my 1st gen iPhone after only three months. I took it to my local Apple store and they replaced it for another one from their brown box warranty stock on the spot. I thought I would have to book it in for repair and be without my phone for 2-6 weeks but that wasn't the case.

My iPhone has been lost or stolen. What do I do?

Call O2 on 0870 586 0860. They'll put a block on your account and stop your iPhone being used by anyone else
Contact the police to report the loss and get a Loss or a Crime Reference Number
If you have Lifeline insurance, skip to How do I make a claim?
If you don't have Lifeline insurance, you'll need to get a replacement phone and SIM card:
To replace your SIM, contact O2.
If you want to buy a replacement iPhone contact our Direct sales team on 0800 049 0049, option 2. (You must have a Crime or Lost Reference number to buy a replacement SIM free handset. The 16GB model costs £410, the 8Gb model £352)
If you've lost your 2G iPhone you may be able to upgrade to the iPhone 3G for free. Go to I already have an iPhone 2G but I want the new iPhone 3G for more info.
If you don't want to buy a replacement iPhone you'll need to use another handset instead. You can use an old mobile or buy yourself a new handset - check our online shop for some great deals.
Contact O2 to arrange for the SIM to be connected to your iPhone
Plug your iPhone into your computer, sync it with iTunes, and you're ready to go
You can cover it on your house insurance..... im covered for anything totalling £2000 as part of my agreement.....

Bu**er! Household insurance same here, but know it would be a right rigmarole to sort out and leave a period where I'd have no phone. Not as seamless as the Orange care, which though relatively expensive, always was very efficient in sorting a swift replacement in the few faults I had in the last 15 years- never without a working handset for more than 24 hours.
