Quick question about preparing for an iPhone contract - keeping my number

Hi guys, just a quick one. I have been with Virgin Mobile forever and have had the same number for a long time. I want to keep this number when I get a 3G iPhone on friday - I am currently on a Virgin Liberty SIM which can be terminated with a month's notice.

Can anyone explain what I need to do now in order to keep my number when moving to O2 for the iPhone contract? I've never had to change networks or move my number so any advice will be gratefully received!

Dan

you'll need your mac code , i went from voda to o2 and it was simple. i phone vodas help line and the gave me the code there and then over the phone then when i started my i phone contract i inputed the code on the registration page to which they said would take 'up to' a week to change over in the mean time you get a temp number to use , 2 days late i got a txt telling me to turn the phone off and on again low and behold all sorted -

I've just phoned Virgin about this and they said they have to send me the PAC code which could take a few days. Do you have to provide this when you purchase a new phone or can it be done at a later date?

Thanks

With the 1st generation iPhone they would give you a temporary number and you could call in with your PAC code at a later date to have it switched back to your original existing number. Whilst I can't confirm if that is the case with the new 3G model I imagine it is. You could always call O2 customer service and find out. Mind you with the amount of knowledge or lack there of that their staff have regards the 3G model I'm not sure if they will be able to give you a definite answer.
