iphone water damage

hi my iphone got water damaged last week and now doesnt even switch on

ive tried drying it but stil the unit does not respond

anyone have any ideas what to do now regarding whether i should send it back to apple or something else

Best to let it dry out completely before trying to switch back on. If you've tried switching it on before drying out it is probably knackered......

I htought i read that there was a small paper tab in the headphone jack that changed colour if it got water in it. There fore they will not swap under warranty!.. not sure if true or not,

Warrenty or not - if you've got it wet, they won't replace it/repair it for free....

they wont even look at it as they told me that the phone has not been activated

is there any point in getting it fixed

somewhere on the apple site it states to replace an iphone out of warranty at a cost of £146.13 with a new or refurb model

Unfortuatnley that is not the case for Italy as ours are unlocked. It's 699 for a new phone! That's why I went elsewhere.

you did ask for advise? That is the only place I found that would even try to fix water damaged iphones AND has a good reputation.

left phone in warm room for a few days and
this morning i pluged it in
and bingo
working perfect now

Spoke with staff at the Apple Shop in Brent Cross yesterday about an unrelated fault.
The possibility of future moisture damage was mentioned and I was informed that with immediate effect if only ONE of the iphone's FOUR moisture indicators shows moisture, then Apple will treat it as fair wear and tear and covered by warranty.
The 3GS has four moisture indicators. One at each end and two under the screen.
