I have an unlocked/jailbroken iphone on tmobile and have just found the Sim Applications menu. What are these? Is this the same as Tzones?

Hubby just sent me a text using Flash SMS and I wondered if we get charged extra for this. I can find absolutely nothing on the web about it, which is very strange
