posted this twice in the thread for all iphone and firmware 2.0 questions but never got a reply as all the talk is about the new iphone.

My question is for the many people who recently bought their 8gb iphone and are quite happ with the fact it isnt 3g what is the best option in regard to firware 2.0. I have an unlocked iphone on version 1.1.2 and works great. I would however like to add a better tasks application - im confused as you whether i should just jailbreak my phone now and upgrade to 1.1.4 or wait until 2.0 comes and upgrade to that? if i wait till 2.0 will the phone remain unlocked ?

if anyone can shed some light i would appreciate it

upgrade now to 1.14 and then WAIT until its confirmed that 2.0 can even be done


there are no guarantee that it will be done 1.12 took months so be prepared for a long wait


but ziphone has apparently done 2.0 already BUT not everyone is happy with his last program version

i will use ziphone to jailbreak and unlock to 1.1.4 and stay with that till 2.0 is out and safe on unlocked iphones

Following on from this . . . will a jailbroken 1.1.4 iphone automatically update to 2.0 from within itunes when it is released?

And might this brick it? I'm thinking that it's gonna be a case of "wait and see".

For clarification, my phone is on legit O2 contract, but jailbroken.

It won't if you set the 'automatic update' to off in the itunes settings.
