How to connect iPhone to computers LAN connection?

I am in a hotel in Africa where I have internet via a wired LAN connection. Without a wireless router would it be possible to get internet on my iPhone through USB connection or wifi or bluetooth?

There is a way to set your computer up so you can access the web "through" it - so I'd say it's possible.

Not 100% sure on how to set it up, I'll have a wee look at the moment.

Depending on what OS you're using.

I'm on Win7.

Go into Start > Network > Network and Sharing Center

Where is says Connections: "xxxconnection namexxx"

Click that

Then click Properties

Then click Sharing

You should then see this - by clicking that box it should turn your PC into an access point:

I did this just last week while away on holiday with a Windows 7 Netbook.

You need to set up your wireless card as a Ad-hoc network. Then do almost as mickyd67 said but you need to share your "wired" connection.

When setting up the Ad-Hoc wireless I found that setting the encryption to WPA didn't seem to allow the iPhone to connect, so I set it to WEP instead.

Have been trying all the various options suggested and followed the websites, but still no success. Any other suggestions as to a technicality that I might need to change somewhere.

Ok, Lord knows how but after leaving it alone for an hour it just started working by itself
Thanks for all your help and for anyone wanting to do the same it does work just follow one of the guides and wait a while for it to do whatever settings it has to process, I guess I was expecting it to work after waiting for a minute or two.
