ALL Sound has gone from my iphone!

Woke up this morning and have found that all the sound has gone from my iphone. If I make or receive a call I cant hear anything, if I put it on speaker phone nothing, if I plug in headphone I get...nothing, if I play a song in I get silence. I've tried restoring it from itunes to a fresh version and also tried the guides on line that talk of connecting headphones, rebooting and then removing them but that doesn't work for me. I have a 3G iphone. Its out of warranty. I don't know what to try next!

I've been using the guide here iPhone and No sound! - Mac Forums

is my only option to open it up?
iPhone Headset Jack REAL Fix

Thanks for helping

Have you flicked the mute switch on the side of the phone?

Don't think that would affect hearing someones voice during calls, would it?

I know you said that you restored your iPhone, but have you tried a reset on the iPhone itself (Home button and sleep button pressed together till the apple symbol appears)?

A few of my iPhones have done this over the times and the above suggestion usually gets it working again.

Let us know.

Yes, that method helped me when I had a similar problem few weeks ago, although I could still hear voice when making a phonecall and ringtone too, but all other sounds disappeared. I did a reset and everything was back to normal

I'm getting a similar problem with my iphone 2g not recognising my headphones. Will a Home button/Sleep reset and delete everything or just do a reset ?

Just do a Home button/sleep reset... dont worry it will not delete anything... it should work.
