3GS TV Out

So, with the new developments in mobile TV...Sky, Catch up TV et al. I have a question, is there a TV Out cable available for the 3GS that will allow me to watch the above on my TV via my iPhone?

I have seen plenty of TV Out cables but I suspect they will only work with actual vids encoded for the phone?

I know that the SDK does allow TV out to be added to apps but not sure if anyone has done it?

Re: 3GS TV Out

Whilst I havn't tried it I would have thought this cable should do the job:
Apple Component AV Cable - Apple Store (U.K.)

Re: 3GS TV Out

I have used Apples composite av cable and successfully watched the Sky app and the Sling app on the big screen.

I must say that because of the terrible frame rate it is virtually unwatchable!

I also tried tvcatchup using the same cable, mainly out of curiosity and found that the frame rate was great and it was very watchable and the tv.

I used an app on cydia called screensplitr as I found it better than tvout which is also on cydia.

Hope that helps.

Re: 3GS TV Out

Does anyone make a cheaper lead than the official Apple one that will work with OS 3.0 or higher, as the Apple oner is quite expensive.

I dont think tere is one due to the chip in the cable from Apple. Not 100% sure though.
Just get it second hand, i got mine for £18.

Yeah, it wasn't clear if you meant the Sky app or Sling Player though.

Bottom line is that I can't replace my Virgin Sky Sports subscription with the iPhone app and a component cable then!

Great. Thanks Rupert.

Sorry if it was not clear, yeh both the Sky and Sling suffer from terrible frame rates.

I'm afraid it won't be replacing any subscriptions at the mo.

Re: 3GS TV Out

Only tested it on the wifi and that is bad so didn't bother
testing it on 3G.

I also struggle to get a 3G signal indoors.
