Iphone 3g Problem. Full bars but 3g cuts out

Hi,

I have used the search but cannot find anyone with the same problem as mine.

I live in Kent and work in central london. At home and work and everywhere inbetween i get full 5bar reception and the blue 3G Symbol. The problem is that after using the 3g for a couple of minutes (loading bbc etc..) it just stops working. I still have full reception and the blue 3G symbol. the only way to reconnect is turn airplane mode on then off but problem persists.

I have downloaded a speed test app which shows the following results:

When 3g working:
ping 414
Download 2.28mbps
Upload 0.18

When 3g cuts out:
ping 8184
Download 0.09
Upload 0.00

I have tried a system restore and have the most up to date firmware.

If i take it to an apple store will they tell me thats life or is there a way to tell that the phone is faulty?

thanks in advance

Ash

Re: Iphone 3g Problem. Full bars but 3g cuts out

I live in Bromley and have the same issues when travelling into London. I was in Beckenham this evening, stationary with full 3G signal but no internet. The most I had from Safari was 'the server stopped responding'.

It came back to life after half an hour, but with a long (up to a minute) lag before data starts to come down to a page. When the page eventually starts to load its quick, but the lag is intolerable.
