iPhone and orange delivery thread

This thread is to talk specifically about deliveries from Orange.

I am hoping they are sent out today but mine is showing in Rushden. They could have shown a bit of good will and sent them out for Delivery today, it would have made sense as I think they have 250,000 iphones ready for new customers.

Re: iPhone and orange delivery thread

I have rang orange and they said they will be sending a text to say when it will be delivered and should expect a text on the 11th, so according to her they aren't getting sent out yet.

Re: iPhone and orange delivery thread

I thought they were going out for Tuesday delivery because someone mentioned that they would be getting theirs on Weds as the Tuesday delivery quota was already full. Mine's been waiting at Rushden since last Weds - still says the same.

That's what I thought, unless the girl was wrong, anyone else want to ring orange?

Re: iPhone and orange delivery thread

I pre-ordered last week when I got the email but I hadn't had any text so I just called Orange to check the status and they said it will be delivered on the 11th. Not too bad considering the demand I'd say.

Re: iPhone and orange delivery thread

Mine’s sitting in Rushden too.

Frustrating, since it says ‘Received 5th November for next day delivery’.

When I ordered, Orange said guaranteed delivery 10th November.

DPD, however, are saying the 11th. “Due to the demand, we are unable to confirm which day next week your delivery will be made, but as we have already received your details your parcel should be with you by Wednesday, 11th November.”

So there you go.

I rang Orange again and they said it should be tomorrow for the first batch, or it could be Weds or Thurs.
They should have rolled it out from Monday, it would keep everyone happy then.

Re: iPhone and orange delivery thread

I take a guess and say that they will leave Rushden tonight, They've got a hell of a lot of phones to ship out to local depots and the quickest way to do it is at night when the roads are clear. If we don’t see any movement tonight then i'd say only those who live close to Rushden will get theirs tomorrow. With the rest of us getting them on Wednesday

Guys,

I wouldn't worry that there hasn't been any activity yet.

After all if you buy something from an online retailer, with next day delivery, chances are it doesn't go anywhere near the back of a lorry until the evening.

Then it has to get to the depot, be sorted and then go on to the local delivery centres before being delivered to you the next day.

The iPhones sitting in Rushden are already 2 steps through that process (on the lorry and at the depot, probably already been sorted too). So there shouldn't be any reason why they wouldn't be delivered tomorrow.

Re: iPhone and orange delivery thread

Just got an email from DPD

Quote:
Good afternoon,

Thank you for your e-mail.

If the parcel you are waiting for is an iPhone from Orange, please be
aware Orange has been unable to despatch any iPhones until Monday 9^th
November, but Orange have made us aware of your order.

Due to the demand, we are unable to confirm which day your delivery
will be made, but as we have already received your details your parcel
should be with you by Wednesday, 11^th November

You will receive a text from DPD on the morning that your delivery will
be made.

Thank you for your patience.

Regards

DPD Customer Services

Re: iPhone and orange delivery thread

Ordered mine through retentions last Thursday. Got the txt on Saturday morning and the DPD site reads "received customer data" and like the rest of you "in Rushden"

Spoke to premier service today and they said that the system had sent out random txts in error and that I should receive a txt from the courier tomorrow morning between 8 and 9 am confirming the date for my delivery.

I also tried ordering the phone again online and as of mid day I was still able to select delivery date for tomorrow. However I just rechecked and the earliest date is now Wedensday.

Lets see what happens tomorrow with regards to this text message we are supposed to receive between 8 and 9am.

Re: iPhone and orange delivery thread

Even though many of you have received text messages to say that your phone has been dispatched (my text message was received on 5th November), the simple truth is that none of the phones have actually left the Orange warehouse yet.

Orange are unable to send out any of the Orange iPhones yet as O2 have a two year exclusivity deal which ends at midnight tonight (Monday 9th November 2009).

The reason you received the text message is that Orange were getting busy putting all of the iPhones on the dispatch system (tied into Parceline's system), so that they can go out on Monday evening/night and then onto Parceline's dispatch hub. When Orange book an item onto the Parceline system, an automatic text message is generated to say that the parcel will be delivered the following day - even though they're not. Unfortunately there was nothing Orange could do about this automated e-mail. If Orange hadn't taken this action, can you imagine how many dispatch documents they would have had to generate today/this evening!!! This would have created an enormous amount of delay.

At the end of the day, if you have received your text message last week, then the chances are you WILL receive your phone either on Tuesday or Wednesday.

Re: iPhone and orange delivery thread

Called up and spoke to DPD. The call centre was able to see the actual depot the package was in and have confirmed I would DEFINATELY get it tomorrow. She said that if it's got a HUB reference then chances are it will be tomorrow.

Apparently been having calls all day about it so they seemed to be on the ball.

Re: iPhone and orange delivery thread

Imagine how many iPhones they've got to manually scan into the hub.

That's on top of all the other 'daily' parcels they receive.

Looks like it'll be a busy day/night for Parceline!

Re: iPhone and orange delivery thread

The number I called from the DPD site:

General Enquiries
0845 9 300 100

I also ordered mine on Thursday via the call centre so was not quick off the mark.

I was on hold for about 20 minutes and then got through to an operator
