iPhone 3GS - cannot connect to internet

I cannot get onto the internet via my home network. I get the message `Cannot Open Page - Safari could not open the page because the server stopped responding'. I've checked my wifi settings which appear to be correct, the network is shown and ticked and I have the wifi symbol. Is this problem to do with my provider? I am with Virgin. Thanks for any help.

Re: iPhone 3GS - cannot connect to internet

Try clearing wifi info and re-doing it (on iPhone)

Are you getting an IP address from your wireless router?

Settings > Wi-Fi > YourWirelessAP (click on the ">" on the right hand side) > DHCP

Make sure you are getting an IP address, subnet mask, default gateway (router) and DNS addresses.

What encryption are you using on your wireless router? Are you using MAC filtering?

If all else fails, click on your AP (the ">" again) and click 'Forget this Network' and start over. Reboot your wireless router for good measure.

Hope this helps.

Cheers

Hi, I am still here and still cannot get onto the web with home wifi. No problem outside of the house in hotspots.

The phone shows that I am connected to a wifi network and it is in the client list of the router.

My phone lists IP address, subnet mask etc.

I am using WEP. Mac filtering is not enabled.

I have lost count of the times I have done `Forget Network' and I have done a full reset on the router

I'm obviously missing something but what? My router is a Sweex LC0000070 and my ISP is Virgin.

on some routers there is an option to only reconise computers. If that is the case your router might not give the phone an ip address. It happened to a mate and he couldn't conect either his wii or hp phone.
Once he changed the settings it all conected perfectly.
