iPhone Headphone socket not working :(

I may have dropped it too many times, and now my iPhone headphone socket does not work properly. When I listen to music, its all fuzzy, doesn't play properly. Unless I push my headphone jack in hard, but it just comes out when you remove pressure.

Out of warranty.

Any ideas what to do? Apple charge £170 for any repair, not worth it.

Re: iPhone Headphone socket not working :(

Ash,

I had exactly the same problem with mine. It turned out to be a years worth of pocket fluff / tissue that had made it's way into the socket. You couldn't really see anything but I stuck a pin in the socket and was amazed what I fished out.

Got to be worth a go!

Simon

Ditto the above, my headphones would only go so far into the socket, giving me just sound out of one ear piece, and no control using the little button on the lead.

I used a paperclip and pulled out ALOT of pocket fluff also. If you hold it up in the light at the right angle, I bet you can see a bed of fluff, that you've nicely compressed down attempting to push in your headphones further
