Re: 2G or 3G

I think you answered your own question, matey

2G runs on EDGE data transfer, which I believe is ~ 60Kb/s(?)
3G's data speed is capped at 1.5Mb/s. Meanwhile, the 3gs will go up to 7.2
Remember, all these speeds are maximums: you will rarely reach these in normal use.

However, all will run at up to 54Mb/s on a home wifi network, with no differences between models.

Re: 2G or 3G

As above plus

The 3G has GPS for Sav Nav, etc

The 3G has a proper 3.5mm headphone jack so you can use any headphones with it, the 2G is recessed and requires an adaptor

The 3G comes in larger capacities

I wouldnt even consider a 2G now, its obsolete technology and the 3G makes a huge difference.

Re: 2G or 3G

Agree with above plus all 2G iphones are all over 18 months old and battery life will be even worse.A new battery from Apple is £70 fitted.

Re: 2G or 3G

I wouldn't say the 2G iPhone's battery life would be worse than a 3G. OK, the battery may be getting long in the tooth and not holding quite as much charge as it originally did; but don't forget that the 3G had about half the battery life of the 2G when it was released!

At worst, I'd say the battery life would be about the same now.
